🗓️ Blaenavon World Heritage Day – What Residents Need to Know
We’re counting down to Blaenavon World Heritage Day, taking place on Saturday 28th June 2025 from 10am–4pm — and we want to make sure our wonderful community is fully informed about what to expect.
Here’s a quick summary of the plans and how they may impact you as a local resident or business.
🎉 What’s Happening on the Day?
World Heritage Day will follow its much-loved format with:
A fun fair in Broad Street Car Park
Stalls and entertainment across Market Street and Bethlehem Chapel
A parade at 1pm, bringing extra colour and energy to the town
If the weather holds, we’re expecting over 1,000 visitors, so we’re preparing for a vibrant and busy day!
🚧 Road Closures
To keep everyone safe, several roads will be closed between 8am–5pm on the day:
Broad Street
Ivor Street
Old Williams Road
Market Street Car Park
Lower Market Street
Lower King Street
Broad Street Car Park
Lower Lion Street (towards Broad Street)
🚗 Please move parked cars from these areas before 8am — otherwise they may not be able to move all day. We’ll be placing reminder notes on vehicles the week before. If you'd like extra notices for customers or delivery drivers, just let us know!
🛍️ Market Street Stall Layout
We’ve taken feedback on board from last year and will be relocating stalls to the opposite side of Market Street, ensuring better residential access while maintaining space for emergency services. Thank you for helping us improve the experience for everyone!
♻️ Waste & Clean-Up
Events bring footfall — and unfortunately, waste too. We’ve arranged:
Professional waste services before and after the event
On-the-day litter pickers to keep things tidy
A dedicated team to make sure the streets stay clean
🛡️ Safety & Support
We’re committed to creating a safe and enjoyable event. On the day:
Security staff and police officers will be present
Our event HQ will be at the Workmen’s Hall, where a team member will be available all day to help with any concerns
We’re so grateful for your continued support and understanding as we celebrate Blaenavon’s heritage. If you have any questions or would like to discuss anything in more detail, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Thank you — and here’s to a brilliant World Heritage Day!
Kind regards,
Ashleigh Taylor
