📢 Important Information for Blaenavon Business Owners – World Heritage Day 2025

We’re excited to announce that Blaenavon World Heritage Day will take place on Saturday 28th June 2025, from 10am to 4pm — and this year marks a special milestone: our 25th anniversary!

With over 1,000 visitors expected (weather permitting), the event promises to be a fantastic celebration of our town’s rich heritage. As always, we truly value the support of our local businesses in making the day run smoothly for everyone.

🗓️ What’s Happening on the Day?

The event will follow its well-loved format, including:

  • A fun fair in Broad Street Car Park

  • Stalls and entertainment across Market Street and Bethlehem Chapel

  • A lively parade at 1pm

🚧 Road Closures (8am–5pm)

The following roads will be closed to vehicles (except emergency services):

  • Broad Street

  • Ivor Street

  • Old Williams Road

  • Market Street Car Park

  • Lower Market Street

  • Lower King Street

  • Broad Street Car Park

  • Lower Lion Street (towards Broad Street)

Please ensure any parked vehicles are moved before 8am. We’ll be placing reminder flyers on cars the week prior. If you’d like copies to give to delivery drivers or customers, we’d be happy to provide them.

♻️ Waste Management – How You Can Help

Although stallholders are required to manage and remove their own waste, the event does generate a noticeable amount of rubbish, especially food and drink containers.

We're asking for your practical support:

  • If your business sells food or drink, please consider providing extra recycling facilities outside your premises

  • This helps reduce street litter and supports our legal obligations for waste management

We’ll have litter pickers on the day and professional clean-up services before and after the event.

🚫 Alcohol-Free Zone

While we want everyone to enjoy the day, Blaenavon Town Centre is a designated alcohol-free zone, and our event is officially alcohol-free.

That said, we understand and support the role of pubs and hospitality venues during the celebration. We’re simply asking businesses that serve alcohol to:

  • Discourage street drinking outside your premises

  • Encourage customers to consume alcohol inside instead of in public spaces

We can provide flyers with this message for you to display or hand out if needed.

Security and police will be present throughout the day to help manage this.

🏢 Event HQ and Support

Our team will be based at the Workmen’s Hall, where someone will be available all day to answer queries or deal with any concerns you may have.

If you’d like more information, have any questions, or want to request resources like reminder flyers or alcohol awareness signs, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

🙏 Thank You for Your Support

Your cooperation with road closures, waste management, and public safety plays a vital role in helping our community — and your business — enjoy a safe, successful, and enjoyable World Heritage Day.

Here’s to a brilliant 25th celebration! 🎉
